Deutsche Glasfaser selects Genexis’ Hybrid

July 23, 2014

Deutsche Glasfaser, the largest independent open access fibre network operator active in Germany, has selected FTTH home gateway supplier Genexis for the delivery of Gigabit fibre gateways. Deutsche Glasfaser has activated over 50,000 homes and commenced with a rollout of at least 100.000 homes in 2014. For their network, Deutsche Glasfaser uses Genexis’ Gigabit Hybrid gateway providing high-speed fibre routing and wireless in combination with full triple play functions. Deutsche Glasfaser acts as a network operator, providing an open access network on which multiple service providers are offering their services.

“To match our philosophy of deploying an open FTTH network for the service providers, we require a proven CPE solution that is built for open access,” says Peter Kamphuis, Geschäftsführer at Deutsche Glasfaser. “We have witnessed and experienced multiple successful FTTH initiatives, such as the Reggefiber network in the Netherlands, using the Genexis Hybrid gateway. The modularity of the Hybrid enables each service provider to offer tailor-made services on the same platform.”

“Since the founding of Deutsche Glasfaser in 2011, we have been working together on a tailor-made home gateway solution for FTTH deployment in Germany,” says Gerlas van den Hoven, CEO at Genexis. “The Hybrid enables Deutsche Glasfaser to offer their service package using a modular product platform that covers all their needs and wishes, including fibre termination and a full-feature residential gateway. We are pleased Deutsche Glasfaser has selected Genexis and we are looking forward to a successful collaboration in the years to come.”

Deutsche Glasfaser is deploying a complete Hybrid solution, including its Universe FTU, Element network terminator and the Live! Titanium Residential Gateway.
