July 23, 2014

TalkTalk has reported 1.1 million customers for its budget pay-TV service, adding 185,000 in the most recent quarter.

The telco, which relaunched its TV offering with a YouView box last year is now the fastest-growing pay-TV provider, increased revenues by more than 3 per cent to £434 million in the June quarter, compared with the same period last year.

TalkTalk brought in 10,000 new broadband customers during the quarter, bringing the total to 4.2 million. A further 24,000 signed up for mobile phone deals, and 34,000 more opted for fibre broadband, giving 241,000 fibre customers.

However, the average monthly revenue per customer was flat year on year, falling slightly on the previous quarter to £26.36.

Dido Harding, Chief Executive at TalkTalk, commented: “Our strategy for growth continues to deliver according to plan, and we are delighted to report another quarter of base growth and year-on-year revenue progress, including continuing strong momentum in new products such as TV, and data services in TalkTalk Business. Importantly, we have also continued to reduce churn on our on-net base, with a third consecutive quarter of improvement, as we continued to improve our customers’ experience and drive increased loyalty through new products. We expect revenue growth to again, build through the year and we are on track to deliver our FY15 revenue and margin guidance, and medium term financial targets.”
