TivùSat reports 2.2m active smart cards

Five years after its launch, Italian DTH platform TivùSat has exceeded the figure of 2.2 million active smart cards.

TivùSat launched on July 31st 2009 and, with a steady growth over the years, has now reached 2,201,708 active smartcards, equivalent to 1.83 million households, more than 7 per cent of Italian families.

The regions with the highest penetration levels are Calabria, where 15.6 per cent of households have chosen TivùSat, Molise (14.5 per cent), Liguria (14.2 per cent), Valle d’Aosta (13.7 per cent), Basilicata (12.9 per cent) and Sicily (10.9 per cent).

Thanks to TivùSat, viewers can receive 64 TV channels (some in HD), both national and local and international: among them, the Rai channels, those from Mediaset, LA7, Real Time and DMax (Discovery), Sky (Sky Italia), Deejay TV (L’Espresso), TV2000, the channels of the group LT Multimedia, Class group, QVC and Home Shopping Europe, leading international broadcasters (among them the BBC, Euronews, France 24, TV5 Monde, Deutsche Welle , Bloomberg, Al Jazeera, CCTV News, NHK and the recently added Pro TV International from Romania).

The Italian satellite platform also carries 32 national and international radio stations.
