Conviva boosts EchoStar viewer experience

August 13, 2014

Real-time big data, viewer-centric video optimisation specialist Conviva has confirmed that its Intelligent Control Platform is to ensure high-quality streaming delivery for US pay-TV platform EchoStar’s IP-based offerings, DISH Anywhere and DishWorld.

To ensure the best viewing experience for subscribers, Conviva’s Intelligent Control Platform will provide the most comprehensive real-time quality and audience metrics available through its analytics offering, Insights. It will also introduce video optimisation with Conviva Precision, providing the control to deliver a consistent high-quality experience in an unpredictable Internet environment.

“Conviva’s robust platform delivers several key applications that allow us to optimise the quality of experience for DISH Internet TV services across all devices, providing granular, real-time analytics and pre-emptive optimisation,” said Jeff McSchooler, senior vice president of engineering for EchoStar. “We strive to give DISH subscribers a streaming experience with little interruption and the highest picture quality possible. The visibility and control Conviva provides is critical to that ongoing endeavour.”

DISH Anywhere provides complementary access to programming online, both live and on demand to DISH subscribers. DishWorld provides premier international programming exclusively online. Both offerings will also utilise Conviva’s Viewer Module—a per-viewer, per-viewing-session look into a subscriber’s experience to improve quality and provide more efficient customer service.

“We are excited to further our relationship with EchoStar, providing the powerful combination of video analytics and optimization delivered only by Conviva’s Intelligent Control Platform,” said Hui Zhang, Conviva CEO. “We are proud to be an essential element of the overall technology strategy and a key provider for delivering the best overall viewing experience for the growing subscriber base for Internet TV services.”
