One million Dutch people are estimated to have a paid Netflix subscription for watching video online. A survey of 6,600 people found that seven per cent had access to a Netflix account.
The survey, published by Telecompaper, suggests a near doubling of Netflix subscription figures in the country for the final quarter of 2013, which was 4 per cent.
The exact number of Dutch Netflix subscribers is not known. According to the latest quarterly figures from Netflix, they have 13.8 million paying members outside of the US. Specific numbers by country were not reported.
Forty per cent of respondents to the survey gave their preferred device for using Netflix as a laptop. Thirty-seven per cent use a television which is connected to another device (ie gaming console) and 31 per cent prefer a tablet or smart TV.
