Akamai assists in delivering streaming of Stockholm Fashion Week

August 26, 2014

This week from August 26th to August 28th, Akamai Technologies, a leading provider of media cloud services, will help deliver live video streaming for the Fashion Week Stockholm. MEC, the producers of Stockholm’s Fashion Week are leveraging Akamai’s Media Delivery Solutions to stream every fashion event through the official website, fashionweek.se, as well as to large outdoor TV screens situated throughout central Stockholm.

Since the first event in 2005 Fashion Week Stockholm has grown to become one of the most important fashion weeks in Northern Europe for ready-to-wear collections. This year, the event features 30 designers who will present their collections for Spring/Summer 2015 in exclusive runway shows.

Thanks to Akamai Media Delivery Solutions all Fashion Shows taking place in the two official catwalks, Berns and the Boat House in Stockholm will be streamed live on the official website fashionweek.se, the website of their fashion media partner bon.se but also on large outdoor TV screens located outside of the fashion arenas. Fashion Week Highlights will be available on-demand on the official Website beginning on Wednesday 27 August.

“We are pleased to be working with Akamai that provides a fast, reliable and secure streaming solution. During the Fashion Week, it is of great importance that we deliver a consistent and high-quality experience on any device, anywhere” said Krister Ragnarsson executive producer at Studio BON and media producer for Fashion Week in Stockholm.

Thanks to the scale and reach of Akamai’s Intelligent Platform and Media Delivery Solutions, a global audience of press and purchasers can view the collections and enjoy the full experience in real time and at high quality across connected devices and geographies. During the live stream, events will be simultaneously recorded into Akamai’s NetStorage cloud-based storage platform, giving viewers access to “rewind” and “pause” DVR functionality. Full recordings will also be made available for on-demand viewing following the event.

“Live streaming is allowing viewers and fashion enthusiasts to experience the Fashion Week in Stockholm and their favorite Swedish designers like never before while also helping to expand our audience and brand throughout the world”, concluded Christin Ericsson, project manager of Fashion Week in Stockholm.
