Smart Zapper from DCC LABS

September 9, 2014

DCC LABS present Smart Zapper – a thick client software stack dedicated to DVB S/S2/C/T Set-Top Boxes, which even runs on devices with limited memory and processing power.Based on Smart Script, it maintains extremely high responsiveness in UI and allows for quick app/UI editions.

With OTT Application development using Smart Script, the Smart Zapper allows for minimum RAM consumption of 15 MB and flash memory of only 0,3 MB. Thus it can be used in older and less demanding equipment, allowing operators not to give up on high quality service.

Main menu launches directly native apps: EPG, Settings, IPLA, HBO and allows such applications as: games, news, competitions, quizzes, as well as OTT video (including HLS, HSS). More applications can be added easily, which is a cost saving option for operators in case of service-evolution.

‘Our Smart Zapper is a trusted solution, which has been commercially implemented for a successful Poland-based satellite and digital TV operator. The products’ flexibility and low-maintenance makes it a suitable choice even for low-end and legacy devices from 400 DMIPS,’ comments Robert Różycki, Marketing Manager, EMEA.

Smooth EPG allows quick content browsing. Detailed information about the event is given underneath the EPG chart. Directly from EPG users are allowed to immediately tune the chosen channel. The Smart Zapper settingsallow the basic audio/video changes, regional changes (such as language and timezone) and screen settings (resolution, contrast, brightness and more). In addition the user may check his network settings and search for software update. Smart Zapper comes with Internet Customer Service, to enable users to monitor their payments and subscriber package.

The Smart Zapper is equipped with no browser but has a similar functionality to HTML5, with application development time similar to HTML5. It fully supports HTTP (HTTPS), JSON. It is equipped with user interface widgets in 2.5D technology and runs applications on PCs without the need for a set-top box.
