ONO heads to cloud with TiVo

Advanced television entertainment market specialist TiVo, and Spanish cable MSO ONO have confirmed the expansion of the successful TiVo deployment by leveraging TiVo’s cloud service APIs to enhance customers’ TV viewing experience on multiple screens.

ONO announced the company will integrate TiVo’s service capabilities into its TV Everywhere mobile and web applications, including search and discovery capabilities and remote PVR recording management functionality. ONO is among the first of TiVo’s cable operator partners to announce it will leverage TiVo’s set of APIs available in the TiVo Service to create a consistent, TiVo-powered experience for customers who want to consume content on any device, anywhere. TiVo’s APIs are available for partners to enable a range of client applications while delivering a consistent integrated search, browse and discovery capability across any screen.

David Sandford, TiVo’s VP and General Manager, International, said the company’s work with ONO had already demonstrated how operators could effectively develop and customise a hybrid television platform that is quick to market, feature-rich and flexible. “We’re pleased that ONO plans to leverage the TiVo Service to power its TV Everywhere solution and provide their subscribers a consistent experiences across all screens.”

ONO partnered with TiVo in 2011 to develop its next-generation television offering. The service has rapidly penetrated more than half of ONO’s user base, reaching over 400,000 active users. O

Nick Ontiveros, Director of Marketing, TV at ONO, said customer feedback on the TiVo solution had been “resoundingly positive”, with TiVo already providing a positive boost to its video offering and had consistently delivered high satisfaction. “We are committed to extending a consistent TiVo experience on any device our subscribers would like to use to consume content. By leveraging the TiVo Service APIs, we’ll be able to deliver the TiVo experience to more of the devices used by our subscribers.”
