Orange adds 25 HD+ channels for FTTH
October 7, 2014
From Pascale Paoli-Lebailly in Paris
Orange France will strengthen its HD+ offering in 2015 by adding 25 new FTA and pay-TV channels to the 12 already carried. The offer specifically targets FTTH where Orange claims 500,000 customers and a leading position overall with three million households passed.
The group also plans to launch its own SVoD platform by the end of this year in partnership with key French groups, it announced at its recent innovation show Hello.
The Orange platform already carries the major French SVoD services like Canalplay, Filmo TV, Pass M6 and Jook Video. Despite the fact it will carry Netflix from November, the operator forecasts a competitive SVoD platform could prove lucrative in the short term.
All those services will be soon available from Orange’s new interface called Polaris, which will allow subscribers to get all content and services across any devices.
