Italian VOD platform Chili TV is planning to expand to the UK, Germany, Austria and Poland by Christmas.

According to Chili TV founder and president Stefano Parisi, the UK and Germany have excellent growth rates for the consumption of non-linear content, while in the other European countries the launch is the result of requests by commercial partners.

Since launching in June 2012 in Italy, the platform has surpassed the threshold of 350.000 customers, adding, on average, around 15,000 new customers per month. By 2018, the company hopes to achieve €198 million in revenues from 7 million customers (1.5 million in Italy).

Chili TV’s catalogue currently has over 4,000 titles, there is no subscription, as customers pay only for what they watch (on Smart TV, PC, tablet and smartphone) – the price of movies starts at €0.99.

In a related development, Chili TV has signed an agreement with Notorious Pictures for the distribution of 30 films through the Electronic sellthrough/Electronic rental and VoD channels.
