BBC Store names chief

BBC Worldwide has appointed Jonathan Green as the new Director of BBC Store, the new digital service to be launched by the BBC next year which will allow people to buy and keep digital copies of the BBC programmes they love.
Jonathan will join BBC Worldwide in his new role in December having previously held senior roles at Virgin Media where he was Director of e-commerce and at BT as Head of Consumer online.

The BBC will launch BBC Store in 2015 with the ultimate aim of fully integrating it with BBC iPlayer. At that point consumers will be able to discover, buy and watch programmes on BBC iPlayer.

Marcus Arthur, Managing Director, BBC Worldwide, UK & ANZ said, “Jonathan brings with him invaluable experience won with some of the biggest players in digital which puts him in an ideal position to launch our ambitious new platform.”

Jonathan Green said, “This is an exciting opportunity for myself and BBC Worldwide. I’m really looking forward to working with the BBC Store team and can’t wait to complete the launch next year.”

BBC Worldwide also confirmed Sara Holt as Vice President, Marketing, BBC Store. Holt joins the BBC Store team from BBC Worldwide’s Brands & Content team where she is currently Head of Brand & Global Campaigns.

Also joining BBCWW is  Kate Phillips as Creative Director of Formats, a new senior role that will see Phillips deliver a global formats strategy that structures the business’ formats activities to maximise commercial potential. The role signifies the importance BBC Worldwide is placing on its global formats business with ambitions to transform the unit and double its revenue by 2017.

Phillips will assume responsibility for BBC Worldwide’s extensive formats catalogue of over 163 titles, including popular entertainment formats; Top Gear; Strictly Come Dancing and The Great British Bake Off – and scripted formats including Luther and Orphan Black.

Phillips joins BBC Worldwide from her current role as Channel Executive for BBC One and BBC Three where she oversees all editorial content for both channels across all genres.
