upc cablecom increases subs, revenues

upc cablecom has increased both its total number of subscribers and its revenue in the first 9 months of the year. The Liberty Global subsidiary now has almost 2.6 million subscribers across Switzerland. It experienced sustained growth in the Internet segment, where the number of subscriptions has increased by 53,400 since January 1st. The revenue also developed positively, rising by CHF 13.4 million (€11.1m) to CHF 323 million (+4.3 per cent) in comparison with the third quarter in the previous year.

Since September, upc cablecom has offered its customers the option to watch TV channels including time-shifted television and rent the latest films individuallyv via VoD, but with the new MyPrime service they can also select from a vast video library – at any time and without limits. More than 45,000 people are able to use MyPrime in their bundles. upc cablecom’s television customers can watch the content at home and also on the go on their mobile devices thanks to Horizon Go.

An important element of upc cablecom’s television experience is the Horizon multimedia platform, which combines television, Internet and telephony in a single box – and is thus unique in Switzerland. More than 200,000 of the Horizon boxes launched in January 2013 are currently in operation.

With more than 1.4 million customer relationships, upc cablecom is the leading entertainment provider in Switzerland. However, in the third quarter of 2014, the number of basic connections dropped slightly compared with the second quarter of this year 
(- 4,800).

upc cablecom reported 53,400 new Internet subscriptions were taken out with the company in the first nine months of 2014. 717,200 of customers now surf the Internet with upc cablecom. The ongoing growth in the Internet segment also had a positive impact on the total number of subscriptions. In the first nine months of this year, this figure grew by 57,600. upc cablecom boasted almost 2.6 million subscriptions as of September 30th.

The solid results in different business areas were also reflected in the revenue, which grew by CHF 13.4 million year on year in the third quarter of 2014 to CHF 323.0 million (+ 4.3 per cent).
