RTVE launches HbbTV app
November 14, 2014
Spanish broadcaster RTVE has launched a ‘Red Button’ HbbTV app with Dolby Digital Plus. This is the first HbbTV service from a broadcaster in Europe to deliver its own content in Dolby Digital Plus.
RTVE’s HbbTV app will deliver select content in Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio including classical music and fictional programmes, such as “Treasure Island” and “Blade Runner.” The HbbTV service is available to RTVE TV subscribers in Spain and through the RTVE Internacional channel in other countries.
Dolby Digital Plus is part of the HbbTV European industry standard for hybrid TV. It delivers authentic, high-quality audio via broadcast channels or IP content on an HbbTV service.
