Samsung Electronics Co. UK has confirmed the availability of a refreshed and improved Curzon Home Cinema Smart TV App on the Samsung Smart Hub, giving users access to select films, including recently acclaimed titles Joe starring Nicolas Cage, and Ida from director Pawel Pawlikowski, the day they are released in Curzon cinemas.

Widening its cinema offering, Curzon caters to all film fans offering the very best in independent cinema straight to the living room. The Curzon Smart TV app also curates top films as selected by Curzon cinema experts, giving extra insight into the movie alongside behind the scenes footage.

The app will offer a ‘pay as you watch’ system, eliminating the need to be tied down to a monthly subscription. Once paid for, the film is available across a number of platforms. In addition, users can now pause then resume watching on another device, meaning film fans can never miss a moment of viewing.

With a new revolutionised design, the Curzon Smart TV App will present its wealth of content in an easy to navigate format. With a number of new menus to explore including ‘Most Watched’ and ‘Featured Films’, choosing a movie to watch has never been easier.

Doug d’Souza, TV/AV Content Manager at Samsung Electronics UK and Ireland, said the Curzon Home Cinema App on the Samsung Smart Hub not only made independent film more accessible to viewers but its enhanced functionality also ensures choosing a film has never been easier. “At Samsung we are committed to offering viewers the best possible content on our Samsung Smart Hub and the Curzon Smart TV App broadens our already wide film choice,” he added.

Phil Mordecai, Director of Curzon Home Cinema, said the company’s mix of curated seasons and pioneering cinema content, together with an enhanced user experience makes the Curzon Home Cinema App on Samsung Smart Hub the clear choice for film fans across the country.

Available on all 2012, 2013 and 2014 Samsung Smart TV models, the Curzon Home Cinema App will join an ever-growing collection of services available on Samsung Smart TVs such as Full Catch Up TV (ITV Player, BBC iPlayer, 4oD and Demand 5), MUBI, Deezer, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. ‘Samsung Apps’ is the first and biggest App store available for TVs, with over 20 million Apps already downloaded worldwide, proof that consumers are rapidly embracing the Smart TV format.
