Frog by Wyplay Open Innovation Community lights up pay-TV operator’s technology roadmap

Wyplay, creator of software solutions for leading pay-TV operators, announced that the Frog by Wyplay open source community now totals more than 75 licensee companies, who are using, supporting, enriching and most importantly, deploying the Frog by Wyplay set-top box and back-end software.

“Canal+ Group has successfully deployed Frog By Wyplay middleware on all its  Le Cube DTT set-top boxes,” said Jacques Bourgninaud, Wyplay CEO. He added, “We created Frog by Wyplay to connect more efficiently TV operators, with their technology suppliers and the worldwide innovation community. Canal+ is the first deployment and other operator deployments will be coming soon…”

Dominique Féral, Wyplay CMO said, “After one year of existence since CES 2014, our Frog Open Innovation Community enjoys a tremendous traction with an average of seven new Frog License Agreements signed each month. This is an unquestionable testimony regarding the industry’s appetite for open and collaborative approaches to technical innovative solutions.”

Wyplay will unveil, at CES 2015, many of the creative frog community members’ innovations including device and end-user analytics, Internet of Things (IoT) for TV, cloud DVR, innovative UX, and advanced graphic application engines …

Close collaborations and regular contributions from licensees have enriched the Frog solution. These contributions will be included in the middleware 3.0 version in December. This new version “Cayenne Frog” includes OTT and 4K enhancements such as HTTP live streaming (HLS), 4K Ultra High-Definition (UHD), interfaces for Conditional Access Systems, Application Store services, and much more.
