Holiday movie piracy tracking from CEG TEK

Content and asset protection solutions specialist CEG TEK International has introduced its Holiday Piracy Portal located at www.cegtek.com/holiday. According to COO Kyle Reed, the Portal is designed to provide peer-to-peer (P2P) download demand data across BitTorrent users worldwide including geolocation metrics and interactive mapping features.
Of the 41 films tracked, Home Alone remains number one with over 35,000 unique peers trading the film on a daily basis. The film was nearly topped by A Merry Friggin’ Christmas, released in November 2015.
“Our new real-time and historical heat maps present rich piracy data in an interesting way,” said Jon Nicolini, CTO. “We plan to leverage our vast data cache to create activity animations, future trending similar to, yet better than, the predictive Doppler radar on your evening news, and much more.”
The Holiday Piracy Portal will remain live through January 10, 2015. “This is a glimpse of things to come,” commented Reed. “We look forward to launching additional portals to give content owners and the public real-time insights into the scope of the piracy problem.”
