LG might be holding onto the position as the world’s Number 1 supplier of 4K/Ultra-HD displays, but Samsung Electronics is claiming the dominant position as far as the US market is concerned.
Last week Samsung held its North America ‘dealer summit’ in Orlando and told the 500 delegates that according to market research from NPD, Samsung had a 51 per cent market share in the US in January and this was the 10th straight month where it topped a 50 per cent share in 4K units (including flat as well as ‘curved’ models in the 55” and over models.
These numbers are well ahead of the position a year ago when Samsung’s share of the overall flat panel market (including non-4K units) stood at 36.4 per cent.
