Discovery-owned Animal Planet network has made a four-episode series in 4K. The 4 x 22 minute Too Cute show is all about kittens and puppies, and claims to be the first TV series to shoot and post-produce in 4K/60fps.

“Discovery Communications has a long and established track record of being among the first to embrace emerging technologies,” said Rick Holzman GM/EVP for Animal Planet, and reported by TV Technology, Debra Kaufman. “A perfect example of this is the company’s history of being out in front of HD and 3D. It’s this culture of early adoption that led us to experimenting with 4K in two of Animal Planet’s most popular shows, Too Cute as well as River Monsters.

The show is produced by Endemol’s True Entertainment, and shot on a Sony F55 camera, although the shoot generated some 60 TB of original camera data.
