Mance Media, a global film and television distribution company based in Hollywood, has launched its stand alone 4K Ultra HD physical media company, BUY4KUHD.
BUY4KUHD is an electronics company that sells 4K Ultra HD entertainment on 8GB 3.0 USB thumb drives. Consumers can select from Mance Media’s 4K Ultra HD library online and a thumb drive will be shipped to their home containing the 4K movie, documentary or TV series.
This announcement is hot off the heels of Mance Media announcing it is distributing 4K Ultra bundles to BitTorrent’s 170 million-user base.
BUY4KUHD utilises the new HEVC (H.265) codec to shrink large 4K files down to under 3GB in size, while maintaining the crisp image and sound quality. Distributing thumb drives eliminates bandwidth-streaming problems. The company ships globally and says its service is great for countries that have slow Internet speeds, but who still want to watch 4K-quality entertainment in the home.
