Bangladesh has started the tender process to buy and launch its own DTH broadcast satellite. The specification calls for a 40-transponder craft (26 in Ku and 14 in C-band) with the satellite maker to also take responsibility for procuring a launch rocket, and supplying the satellite into orbit.
Bangladesh says the launch should take place in 2017.
The country says the winning bidder should be able to arrange finance of 85 per cent of the overall cost of the project. The tender decision will take place on June 2nd.
