Intelsat promotes insiders

April 2, 2015

Intelsat has confirmed the promotion of two seasoned executives. The moves come as Stephen Spengler officially assumes the role of Chief Executive Officer from Intelsat’s now executive chairman, Dave McGlade.

Kurt Riegelman has been named Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, assuming leadership of Intelsat’s product management and marketing functions in addition to the company’s global sales initiatives. Kurt previously served as Senior Vice President, Global Sales. By combining all customer facing responsibilities under one leader, Intelsat will streamline and accelerate its go-to-market strategy as the company plans to broaden its reach within existing and new applications.

Riegelman joined Intelsat in 1998 as Vice President, North America Sales responsible for many of Intelsat’s largest customer contracts within the media sector. In 2006, he assumed sales leadership for the Americas region and, in 2008, Riegelman increased his responsibility to cover all sales globally for Intelsat.

In a newly created role, Michael J. DeMarco, 44, has been named Senior Vice President, Operations, and will lead Intelsat’s network engineering, network operations and information system teams, including the company’s eight global teleport operations, effective immediately. He will be responsible for Intelsat’s information system strategy and for the delivery of the company’s end-to-end service portfolio,

DeMarco joined the company in 2000 and since then has held roles of increasing responsibility within the company.
