NexGuard discusses Potential of Forensic Watermarking at TV Connect

NexGuard, a Civolution company and provider of forensic watermarking technology and solutions for protecting media content against illicit redistribution, has announced that Pascal Marie, NexGuard’s Senior Director, Product Management & Partners, will take part in the “Building a Multiscreen workflow” interactive panel at TV Connect. The panel will take place on April 29th at 17:00-17:40 and discuss content preparation, delivery to multiscreen, adaptive bitrate streaming technologies and content protection for premium live and Ultra-HD VoD services.
The ubiquity of the Internet, video streaming technologies, inexpensive OTT boxes and free Smart TV apps has allowed high quality illegal alternatives to emerge and created new challenges for operators and content providers looking to offer high quality content such as live sports and new cinema releases to their OTT and VoD subscribers. The panel will explain the role that forensic watermarking can play in retaining the value of premium video content while ensuring that subscribers can access video on their device of choice.
“Forensic watermarking has been mandated in digital cinemas for a decade. Forensic watermarking enables operators to trace content, including Ultra HD, to its original source. It also allows operators and service providers to inform subscribers that they are accessing a unique, watermarked copy that can be traced back to them at any time, discouraging subscribers from illegally re-distributing their content whether a local production or Hollywood production.
NexGuard will also discuss how its brand new session-based Set-Top-Box (STB) and OTT watermarking supplemented by on-the fly watermark detection combines with web monitoring to give content distributors a complete toolkit to stop illegal redistribution and protect their investment in content. NexGuard has recently expanded its content protection solution portfolio, enabling operators and content providers to identify and stop the Illegal re-distribution of live sports broadcast and OTT.
