AirTies Wireless Networks, a supplier of advanced wireless and OTT/IPTV technologies, is launching its Air 7410X Ultra-HD IP STB with integrated 11ac AP/Mesh. The STB is based on the Broadcom 7252S SOC, can receive 4Kp60 video streams at the highest picture quality, and supports HEVC and VP9 codecs.

For Operators looking to initially deploy Ultra-HD using the general Internet, the STB comes equipped with the AirTies OTT middleware stack.

Integration of the Air 4920 access point and mesh node with 3×3 802.11ac and 2×2 802.11n for 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, “sets the Air 7410X in a class by itself”, says AirTies. Deploying Ultra-HD demands a high capacity home network that PLC (power line communications) is unable to provide. The Air 7410X can be a fully functional node of an AirTies Mesh network streaming 50+ Mbits of video to multiple TV’s throughout the entire home.

The Air 7410X acts as dual band concurrent AP (access point) resulting in very fast interaction between the mobile device and the STB. Mobile devices which typically have less capable Wi-Fi chips connect to the STB at a fast rate since they are physically close to it and take advantage of the Air 7410’s high capacity Wi-Fi and use it as a fast backbone to the Internet. As part of an AirTies Mesh network the Air 7410X brings a consistent 100Mbit Wi-Fi/Internet access to every corner of the home.

“There are several STBs in the market with simple Wi-Fi client capability. Integrating full access point and mesh functionality into a high performance STB is a major technical challenge. We are proud of our engineering teams who have met the challenge,” said Bulent Celebi, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder.
