Cisco Videoscape for Belgium’s VOO

June 10, 2015

Cisco has announced its collaboration with VOO, a Belgian cable operator, and one of the fastest-growing in Europe, to provide an end-to-end Videoscape solution to power a new TV experience delivered through the recently announced VOO .évasion decoder box.

Available this summer to VOO customers, the .évasion box will deliver a unique experience through a series of innovative features, powered by Videoscape Snowflake, including an intuitive user interface (UI), and mosaic video wall that will allow users to navigate easily throughout the channel line-up, with personalised suggestions enabled via the recommendation engine.

Additional features include the “Restart” function, offering the ability to return to the beginning of an ongoing programme, and the “See or review” function, which lets viewers go back in time up to seven days to rewatch the programme of their choice.

Cisco will supply VOO with the new .évasion decoder box, which has a removable hard drive and offers the ability to record up to three programmes simultaneously while watching a fourth programme. Other key elements of the Cisco Videoscape portfolio involved include the middleware, a full lineup of headend components, and third-party application integration services.

Joe Chow, vice president, Connected Devices Business Unit, Cisco, commented: “Cisco is proud to work with VOO on bringing its vision to reality. The .évasion box is supercharged with multi-channel and simultaneous recording functions, and a slick user interface that changes everything. VOO subscribers will get to truly experience what immersive TV is all about, and will soon forget what watching TV was like before.”
