June 11, 2015

CNN is again confirmed as Europe’s biggest international news brand, reaching 36 per cent of the continent’s affluent population every month on TV or digital platforms* according to this year’s Ipsos Affluent Survey Europe study.

The independent industry research shows CNN as having 25 per cent higher reach than the nearest news competitor. With 36 per cent cross-platform monthly reach, CNN is ahead of Sky News (28 per cent), BBC (27 per cent), Euronews (24 per cent), CNBC (13 per cent), Bloomberg (12 per cent) and Al Jazeera English (8 per cent).

In TV, CNN remains well ahead of all news competitors with a 30 per cent monthly reach across Europe. Similarly, CNN is the top news destination site with 11 per cent monthly reach, ahead of competitors such as New York Times (9 per cent) and Financial Times (8 per cent) as well as traditional TV news brands.

Ipsos also found that CNN leads in cross-platform reach amongst core audiences. CNN reaches more C-Suites (49 per cent), business decision makers (49 per cent), luxury consumers (40 per cent) and frequent international travellers (55 per cent) across Europe every month than any other international business or news network.

“In a world of multiple devices and fast-changing consumer habits, CNN continues to outperform the competition on both linear TV and digital platforms,” said Rani R. Raad, Chief Commercial Officer, CNN International.

“Our continued leadership position across Europe is a testament to the vital role CNN plays in informing and engaging with the continent’s affluent audiences. Whether it’s compelling breaking news on TV, shareable social content on mobile, or a rich digital experience – CNN continues to remain at the forefront of the news landscape.”
