Discovery Italia has launched its free OTT service DPlay that enables users to watch, at any time, on all devices and in on-demand mode, programmes aired by its free-to-air TV channels.

The video streaming service has a simple and intuitive interface, featuring maximum navigability and a rich library with over 2,000 content available, including in HD. Initially, the offer includes programs from channels Real Time, Dmax, Focus and Giallo, to which will be added, in the coming weeks, programmes from Deejay TV, K2 and Frisbee.

Besides online, access is also possible via a dedicated app, both iOS and Android for all major smartphones and in the coming weeks also for tablet.

In the coming weeks, users will be able to create their own MyDPlay profile through which they will receive selected content based on their preferences, notifications and much more. Additionally, DPlay contents will be usable in complete continuity: it will be possible to begin watching a programme on the smartphone and finish it on the home PC.

Future plans include the production of exclusive content available only on DPlay and the creation of branded channels financed by advertisers.

Discovery Italia has also presented the new concept of Deejay TV, a national DTT channel it acquired in January from L’Espresso Group. The channel, which in the past was mostly a musical service, will now air more movies, TV series, quizzes, live shows and sport.

Discovery Italia is the third largest broadcasting group in Italy, with a total of 14 channels (7 free-to-air and 7 pay-TV) and an overall audience share of 7.5 per cent in June.
