upc cablecom acquires Maladers cable network

July 2, 2015

The glass fibre optic cable network in the municipality of Maladers in the canton of Graubünde has so far been run by cable operator Tele Maladers, Genossenschaft für das Kabelfernsehen. The operator has now sold the glass fibre optic cable network to long-term partner upc cablecom effective immediately.

Thanks to upc cablecom’s acquisition of the glass fibre optic cable network, some 120 connected households in Maladers will also be able to enjoy the new 3-in-1 cable connection, which combines TV, Internet and telephony, once the integration is complete. The connection already offers over 70 digital television channels, 40 of those in guaranteed HD quality, more than 170 digital radio stations and a 2 Mbit/s Internet connection including a free modem. A new addition to the communication connection is a landline with no monthly fee. Furthermore, calls can be made at fixed network rates on the move thanks to the upc Phone app, even abroad. Subscribers are also able to benefit from products such as MyPrime, Wi-Free and Horizon Go – upc cablecom’s mobile TV service.

“We have a long-standing, extremely successful partnership with Tele Maladers, for which we are very grateful. The acquisition of the glass fibre optic cable network in Maladers now represents a step toward the future of telecommunications and entertainment with some 120 customers, who will benefit from our wide range of new and innovative products and services”, says Ivan Nash Vila, CFO of upc cablecom.
