Samsung Electronics has been awarded a patent for a flexible display for foldable TVs or computer tablets. The patent was published by the US Patent & Trademark Office on July 8th.
Reportedly the patent also applies to LCD as well as OLED panels. Speciality publication Patently Apple, which normally praises Apple’s ‘spirit of invention’, stated: “At the end of the day, Samsung is in search for their next killer display that could give them the edge over Apple’s iPhone and/or iPad mobile devices.”
The report says that the patent could be used as a large-screen TV in either OLED or LCD formats.
The patent application was filed in Q2/2014 but only just published.
