July 13, 2015

From David Del Valle in Madrid

Vodafone and Orange are seeking deals with Netflix – which is set to launch in Spain in October – to stop the expansion of Telefónica’s Movistar Plus, their main rival.

Their strategy is reaching distribution agreements and alliances with the US streaming service to offer their clients good series and films.

Vodafone and Orange claim to be open to all options and deals to strengthen their TV offers. Both are strenghthening their VoD services with Orange adding 700 movies and boosting TV series to 1,500, and a strong marketing push for TiVo by Vodafone in an attempt to capture more subscribers.
