Scripps expands HD content in Poland

Scripps Networks UK & EMEA has announced the switch to MPEG4 compression that will follow with the launch of Polsat Food Network HD, the global food, entertainment and lifestyle brand, and Travel Channel HD, the global travel broadcaster, on Cyfrowy Polsat, the largest provider of pay-TV and integrated multimedia services in Poland.

The Polsat Food Network HD and Travel Channel HD in MPEG4 format will replace their SD satellite counterpart’s channels and will be available to Cyfrowy Polsat subscribers from October 1st. The Polsat Food Network SD and Travel Channel SD in MPEG4 and MPEG2 will continue to be available to cable networks subscribers through ‘PLIX’.

“Poland continues to be a key market for us and after the successful launch of the SD channels on the Cyfrowy Polsat platform, the opportunity to further increase the availability of our world class programmes in full HD is testament to our commitment to this territory,” said Phillip Luff, Managing Director, Scripps Networks UK & EMEA.
