September 10, 2015

Quickplay, the global expert in powering premium video to any device, is working with Alcatel-Lucent to enable pay-TV operators to evolve their legacy IPTV platforms to the next generation of TV services. The combination enables the most engaging user experience across all screens – in the home and on the go – leveraging both managed and unmanaged networks with a graceful evolution from existing platforms and CPE.

The collaboration combines Alcatel Lucent’s Cloud DVR and Velocix Content Delivery Network (CDN) with Quickplay’s extensive virtual head-end and 24/7 managed service model.  The alliance provides a migration pathway from capital-intensive legacy PAY TV middleware to a modular, multi-vendor approach that gives service providers an option to bypass vendor lock in and rapidly innovate to meet market demands. Service providers will be able to deliver a comprehensive and customized solution for managed and unmanaged video distribution and consumption that differentiates their business and manages demand of multi-screen IP video networks, while having greater scale, efficiency, and agility in delivering the best in premium viewing experiences.

Paul Larbey, Head of Alcatel-Lucent’s IP Video business, said: “The pay-TV industry as a whole is clearly accelerating its adoption of cloud technologies to improve operations, provide innovative services as well as satisfy users’ growing appetite for anytime, anywhere video. We are delighted to partner with Quickplay to build an end-to-end TV platform for our customers that combines in a full managed service option, the agility of the cloud with the robustness of the network. Quickplay has extensive experience with leading operators worldwide; together we provide the best infrastructure, support and systems integration capabilities to deliver Next Generation TV.”
