Canal+, France Télévisions score League Cup deal

The Canal+ Group and France Télévisions are celebrating having been awarded the rights to France’s Coupe de la Ligue (League Cup) for four seasons.

Beginning in August 2016, Canal+ Group channels will broadcast 100 per cent of the games featuring France’s professional clubs over the tournament’s seven match days.

The contract lasts four years up to 2020. The competition’s best moments will also feature in magazine programmes.

“The Canal+ Group is strengthening its partnership with the Ligue de Football Professionnel (Professional Football League),” commented Thierry Cheleman, Director of Sports at Canal+. “Starting in 2016, we will broadcast the entrirety of the LFP with the three top fixtures in League 1, the star match in League 2 on the Monday and thereafter all the games in the Coupe de la Ligue. It’s great news.”

France Télévisions will jointly broadcast one game per match day from the Round of 16 onwards.
