Turner quits OSN for beIN Media

Turner Broadcasting has moved its key DTH channels from Dubai-based pay-TV operator OSN to rival beIN Media Group.

Rani Raad, Turner’s MD for MENA and Turkey, in a statement, said: “Together with beIN Media Group, we’re expanding our reach to cater to the needs of audiences across the region. Subscribers to the network can enjoy unlimited access to news, movies and animation via our world-class broadcast channels and entertainment offering.”

The decision covers all of the key Turner channels including CNN, Cartoon Network, TCM and Headline News.

OSN, in its response to the move, says it has tried its best to hold onto the channel and promises to add “several” new channels to its customers this year.  “While the move is as much a disappointment for us as to our customers, OSN will continue to invest in providing first-class service in all genres,” a statement from OSN said.
