DirecTV is boosting its Ultra HD output, and starting April 15th will start showing Major League Baseball in UHD. The broadcaster now has 3 dedicated 4K channels on air, and last weekend carried the US Masters golf tournament in 4K.

DirecTV says it will start showing the first of 25 games in 4K resolution, the first time that games have been shown in 4K in the US, although Japan has been showing baseball in 4K for the past year.

Among the MLB Network Showcase games in 4K are San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (April 15th); Chicago Cubs vs. St. Louis Cardinals (April 19th), and New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox (April 29th-30th).
