10th DTG Annual Summit hosts Digital Media industry debate

May 10, 2016

The 10th DTG annual Summit takes place at Kings Place, London on 12th May 2016. With the theme ‘Re-engineering for Tomorrow’s Consumer: turning a fragmented market into a global opportunity’ the event aims to stimulate contentious debate about the future of the digital media industry.

The DTG Summit 2016 is set to provide a balanced and relevant debate on the future of the industry and has attracted speakers and panellists from across the digital media industry including Arqiva, Cisco, Channel 4, EBU, Freesat, Google, LG, MTM, SES, Sky, YouView and YouTube. Insight will be provided by industry analysts Decipher and Rovi and the event will be hosted by writer and broadcaster Steve Hewlett, Guardian columnist and presenter of Radio 4’s weekly Media Show.

Richard Lindsay-Davies, CEO of the DTG said: “We have a unique position as the only camera-to-consumer industry group and as such hold an informed, neutral view on the challenges, opportunities and options our stakeholders face. At this event last year I said ‘Transition to IP is best left to market forces’ however with decisions such as the moving of BBC3 to IP those market forces would appear to be moving faster than any of us anticipated and that’s why the theme of this year’s DTG Summit is so timely – not least on the day John Whittingdale releases his White Paper on the future of the BBC.’

Panel Discussions include ‘What Threats does the UK media and tech industry face?’ and ‘What happens next? Scenarios for the future of the UK TV market’.   The Chair of the PMP Project, Graham Mills will present ‘Enabling the Future of Personal Media’ while Web Psychologist Nathalie Nahai will highlight ‘What digital consumers want from media technology’ and in ‘Keeping up with Changing Consumer Behaviour’ Charles Dawes, Senior Director International Marketing, Rovi will reveal a number of insights from Rovi’s global research programme.

In the Summit Solutions Sessions David Crawford, Managing Director of Satellite and Media at Arqiva and Keith Underwood, Director of Strategy & Technology, Channel 4 will outline their latest thinking on the industry’s way forward.  Andrew Olsen, Director of New Products at Sky will outline Sky Q, while Stephen Nuttall, Senior Director YouTube EMEA will highlight Google’s view of the key trends driving industry change. Finally Guillaume de Saint Marc, Senior Director, Chief Technology & Architecture Office, Cisco Systems will outline ‘The Impact of IP/IT transformation of the media technology industry’.

The DTG Summit 2016 is sponsored by Arqiva, Panasonic and SES. The Summit’s delegate Workshops will be hosted by Freesat and Panasonic and Exhibitors include the event sponsors as well as Google, Cabot and CAI.
