Italian public broadcaster RAI has added two new HD channels, taking the total transmitted in this technology to seven.

Movie channel RAI Movie HD (available on channel 114) and RAI Premium HD (channel 115), dedicated to Italian TV series and original programming, join RAI 1 HD, RAI 2 HD, RAI 3 HD, RAI 4 HD and RAI Sport HD.

All of the channels can be received via the Italian DTH platform Tivùsat, which requires a compatible set-top box and smart-card but no subscription.

RAI’s HD offer will be boosted during the Summer Olympic Games, with the addition of Rai Sport 2 HD, which will be only available during the event.

By the end of the year, the pubcaster should add four more HD channels – RAI 5 HD, RAI News 24 HD, RAI Yoyo HD and RAI Gulp HD.
