ALi’s UHD STB chipsets integrate Verimatrix VideoMark

ALi Corporation, a Set-Top Box (STB) chipset provider, has announced the integration of VideoMark, a forensic watermarking solution from Verimatrix on ALi’s latest Ultra HD (UHD) chipset offerings. The collaboration with Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, delivers solutions in line with the recently introduced Ultra Security specifications that enable rights owners and pay-TV operators to maximize revenue potential amid the rising popularity of premium UHD content.
Digital entertainment is rapidly evolving as consumers continue to demand higher quality content distributed across a variety of networks and devices. This has given rise to increasing security threats and has prompted the media industry to recommend a set of requirements for pay-TV operators to ensure robust protection of high-value media content. VideoMark from Verimatrix is a core component of the VCAS Ultra revenue security platform that meets the media industry’s UHD service requirements, specifically MovieLabs Specifications for Next Generation Video and Enhanced Content Protection. It offers protection against illegal redistribution by enabling user-specific traceability with embedded identifying information in copies of premium media content. The integrated solution with Verimatrix VideoMark on ALi STB SoCs will enable pay-TV operators to expand their service offerings with premium content such as UHD video, live sports and early release VoD and thereby maximize ARPU for sustainable growth.
ALi’s UHD chipset implements a host of the latest security technologies including hardware root of trust and Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), enabling a strong base to incorporate VideoMark and together enabling an Ultra Security multi-layered architecture. Furthermore, ALi’s UHD chipset embeds a high-efficiency processor and graphic engine and supports HEVC and VP9 video decoding to deliver a high-performing and cost-effective platform targeting DVB, IPTV, OTT and hybrid STB applications.
