Euro 2016 record streaming traffic

Despite its regional nature, the ongoing UEFA Euro 2016 football tournament will drive record levels of Internet traffic, according to Ian Munford, director of product marketing, media solutions, Akamai, who suggested that a level of 10 to 13 TBps could be reached in the latter stages of the tournament. “The online audience is getting bigger and people are watching for longer,” he noted, suggesting that connected TVs and media streaming devices were playing their part in driving up such usage.
