Executives at security and multiscreen user experience solutions provider NAGRA and its total service protection sister company Conax have declared themselves well positioned to meet the future demands of content security and revenue protection.

Briefing media on activities at the companies since the pair combined in March 2014, Tor Helge Kristiansen, Conax’s EVP Principal Architect, suggested that the need for content security will increase. “We see this very clearly, especially from the studios in respect of Ultra HD,” he said.

Christopher Schouten, NAGRA’s Senior Director Product Marketing agreed, noting that content security was no longer just about sending keys to smart cards. “We can meet 4K security requirements,” he suggested, accepting that in the future, there would need to be “a lot more elbow grease” from players in the market, with a lot of mechanisms needing to be in place, and intelligence gathering playing an increasingly significant role.
