Canada: Netflix on MTS STBs

MTS TV customers can now watch Netflix directly on their cable boxes, provided they have a subscription to the streaming service.
MTS has confirmed that their customers will be able to access Netflix’s entire catalogue of shows and movies by going to channels 55 or 1055 — or by pressing the interactive button on their remote. Company officials say providing the new services “removes the hassle” of having to purchase additional hardware or having to switch video inputs when wanting to watch Netflix.
“This is just the latest step in our ongoing transformation to become a customer-focused company that is the first choice for Manitobans,” commented Paul Norris, a vice-president at MTS.
MTS officials said they’re the first cable provider in the Manitoba province to offer such a service.
MTS is in the process of being bought by Bell, a deal that’s expected to clear all regulatory hurdles by early next year.
