July 22, 2016
French media firm Vivendi is set to shut down Watchever, its German SvoD, before the end of the year.
French daily Les Echos first reported the story, citing the reason as being due to “heavy competition” in the German OTT market.
Watchever launched in January 2013 and and never turned a profit, failing to compete with the likes of Netflix, Amazon and maxdome in the German market.
