Hibernia Networks, a provider of global, high speed telecommunications solutions, had announced its collaboration with Equinix, an interconnection and data centre company, to expand the Equinix Media Cloud Ecosystem for Entertainment (EMCEE) into Equinix data centers in Asia, Europe and North America. The expansion allows customers to seamlessly cross-connect with those facilities on demand, enabling the efficient distribution of content in the EMCEE, which is a robust ecosystem of media and entertainment (M&E) businesses, network and cloud providers. The cloud-based platform provides cost-effective content storage and distribution for film and television companies, utilising digital IT infrastructures to meet the demand for growing OTT applications.

“The low latency performance and sheer volume of bandwidth capacity available on Hibernia Networks’ global footprint is exactly what Equinix requires for EMCEE,” states Matt George, Senior Manager, Content & Digital Media at Equinix. “More than ever, media and entertainment businesses need to efficiently manage content creation, storage and distribution utilising high speed network infrastructure combined with cloud technologies. This ecosystem does so with unprecedented speed and ease of implementation.”

Hibernia Networks’ low latency, fibre optic network provides the backbone for EMCEE, allowing for fast, unrestricted gathering and distribution of media content to and from Equinix data centers, ensuring resilient, highly secure storage. Through this collaboration, M&E businesses can leverage state-of-the-art data and video transmission services on demand between Equinix data centers and key customer studios and other facilities. This data centre-based solution reduces the cost of content storage, management and transport while providing flexibility to transmit data 24/7, year-round.

“This cloud ecosystem is paramount for all technology driven content production companies,” states Wes Hanemayer, VP of Video Services at Hibernia Networks. “Our focus is to bring next-generation video transport technology to the marketplace that benefits our customers. We’re excited about this new milestone in our well-established partnership with Equinix aimed at better serving the evolving needs of M&E customers.”
