Up until now, Multichoice/DStv has dominated African sports viewing thanks to its portfolio of ‘SuperSport’ channels.

Now StarTimes is aggressively pushing its own exclusive sports line-up. Typical is how it is offering football to Nigerian and other viewers across Africa. Tying into the new season of football, StarTimes is now offering more than 50 live football games a week, drawn from a number of top European leagues.

Viewers can catch all the German Bundesliga games, Italy’s Serie A and Ligue 1, China’s Super League, and one EPL matches per week live. All games on other leagues like MLS, Belgian Pro League and Scottish League, are also available live on Fox Sports and Fox Sports 2.

StarTimes is increasingly claiming to be the ‘top’ sports provider over Africa, and has boosted its sports coverage to add to the other 440+ authorised channels of news, movies, series, kids, entertainment, fashion and religion.
