Italy’s Rete55 to go global

September 28, 2016

From Branislav Pekic in Rome

Italian regional broadcaster, Rete55, based in Varese (Lombardy region), has recently acquired a TV channel with national coverage, as the first step for its global expansion strategy.

The new TV channel will be aired on the national DVB-T multiplex and will start tests broadcasts on November 30th. By this date will also be announced the name of the channel.

The new programme schedule will be introduced in January 2017 and will be mainly focused on local, European and global economic news.

By the end of the first half of 2017, the TV channel will also be available via satellite in Europe, broadcasting in English. The next goal will be global satellite coverage by 2019.

The quality of content will be guaranteed thanks to an agreement signed with an unnamed international broadcaster earlier this month, which will guarantee the production and post-production of up-to-date thematic content.
