24/7 Spike channel for Netherlands

Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) will launch Spike as a 24-hour channel on Ziggo in the Netherlands on December 12th. Spike was initially launched in the Netherlands as a five-hour programming block in November 2015, and since then has seen ratings increase rapidly to reach a 1.12 per cent share among the 20-49 year old target audience.

Internationally, Spike has expanded rapidly since the introduction of Spike UK in April 2015. In addition to growth in the Netherlands, Spike launched a channel in Australia in July 2016, a branded block in MENA in June 2016 and looking ahead, RTL Spike will launch in Hungary on December 1st through a trademark partnership with local commercial free to air broadcaster, RTL. With the launch of Spike as a 24 hour channel in the Netherlands and the addition of Spike in Hungary, the brand will reach 39 million subscribers outside of the US by the end of the year.
