ATP World Tour Finals on PlayStation VR

November 16, 2016

The ATP and ATP Media has announced that from now until November 20th, tennis fans will have an opportunity to experience the adrenaline of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in a whole new way.

In a partnership between ATP, ATP Media, Infosys (the Global Technology Services Partner of the ATP World Tour) and Sony Professional Solutions Europe, visitors to the Fan Zone at The O2 will be able to immerse themselves in matches by stepping into unique interactive pods featuring PlayStation VR where they will find themselves in a virtual tennis world. Utilising both headset tracking technology and physical controller interaction, the user is presented with a reactive and customisable environment, making the experience feel very fluid and natural.

Shane Warden, ATP Media Director of Technology and Broadcast, described PlayStation VR as “an incredible product” which the Tour knew would help to achieve its goal thanks to its simple to use and intuitive operation. “We wanted to replicate the feeling of being there and create an augmented experience that lets fans engage and interact with the finals on screen in a way they never could before.”
