GoMedia and Irdeto climb on board National Express

November 16, 2016

Digital platform security specialist Irdeto and GoMedia have announced a new secure OTT video delivery deployment with National Express. Hot on the heels of similar launches with Virgin Trains and Eurostar, GoMedia will again use Irdeto Rights to secure access over passengers’ PCs, Macs and for the mobile app, which can be used on any tablet or smartphone, leveraging Irdeto ActiveCloak technology and Irdeto Secure Key Exchange (SKE). The service will initially be launched on select National Express coaches, with the remainder installed in 2017.

GoMedia specialises in enabling entertainment solutions for transport or infrastructure companies that allow them to monetise their services. As with previous deployments with GoMedia, Irdeto will secure access to National Express’s new OTT service, accessible via the onboard WiFi either through the iOS and Android apps or via PC or Mac. With this new service launch, GoMedia and National Express will provide premium content for around 19 million journeys across the UK every year.

“To be announcing our third successful collaboration proves that together, Irdeto and GoMedia, are fast becoming the OTT entertainment partners of choice in the transport industry. These launches demonstrate real consumer demand for a stable and high quality content service when taking long journeys,” said Roger Matthews, Managing Director, GoMedia. “National Express is committed to providing the best possible experience for its customers and the offering of premium OTT content is part of this. The flexibility of the technical solution offered by Irdeto is a key aspect of secure, reliable delivery of this content to National Express customers.”
