JSC Channel One Russia picks ATEME contribution technology

December 6, 2016

ATEME today announced that JSC Channel One Russia, the premier company in the Russian Federation that broadcasts news, documentaries, feature film productions and entertainment programmes, has selected ATEME’s contribution technology to support its international TV content exchange.

ATEME will be supplying its Kyrion encoder technology that has been designed for contribution over satellite and IP networks, with value added features such as ultra-fast-boot, ultra-low latency, and ABR output. Based on the ATEME fifth Generation STREAM compression engine, the Kyrion encoder provides the best baseband video quality at minimum bitrates. The ATEME Kyrion offers a software upgradable HEVC encoding option to support UHD video streaming as well as legacy MPEG2 to H264 compressions.

“ATEME equipment was first introduced to Channel One Russia during the implementation of European Broadcast Union FUNA project (international news exchange) and it worked remarkably well. Compared to currently used equipment it has plenty of advantages such as small form factor, it’s really lightweight and has unexpectedly low noise level. In addition, it offers a very fast boot time, an intuitively web-based GUI with informative status and measurement features of the equipment and variety of licence options, which are included in a base package,” says Valentina Udalova, network director at Channel One.  “We are very pleased that Channel One Russia has put its trust in our contribution technology,” says Xavier Gentric, EMEA sales director at ATEME. “Known for its high-quality service the broadcaster will deploy the best-in-class solution while ensuring the future of its service with continuing video quality enhancements.”
