Search Party launches on All 4 on Boxing Day

December 13, 2016

All 4, the award-winning free on-demand channel from Channel 4, has acquired the exclusive UK rights to Search Party, the dark US comedy from Turner, a Time Warner Company.

The complete series will be made available as an All 4 box set on December 26th.

Search Party centres on Dory, a fragile, frustrated, life-long doormat who’s not particularly proud of her impact on the world, especially as her greatest accomplishment to date is organising clothes to be donated to charity for her wealthy employer. Dory feels stuck in a stale and disconnected relationship with her boyfriend Drew, a kind of clueless, complacent, spoon-fed doofus who just really loves Christmas. She also feels removed from her closest friends, Elliott, a self-diagnosed narcissist who loves adding job titles to his designer-stylist-curator multi-hyphenate lifestyle, and Portia, an actress always struggling to balance the challenging demands of chronic insecurity and pathological self-absorption.

The series opens with Dory learning that Chantal, a girl she barely knew in college, has gone missing. Despite having almost no personal connection to her, Dory’s soul-searching and desire to find meaning in her life leads her to fixate on the mystery. But Dory and friends are not crime solvers. They value brunch, parties, and their own loud opinions. So when Dory drags them into a bumbling, perilous pursuit to find the missing girl, they soon learn the meaning of real danger and become entangled in a sinister plot that is more than their privileged Brooklyn lifestyles ever bargained for.

Led by Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) as Dory, Search Party features an ensemble of young comic actors including John Early as Elliott, John Reynolds as Drew, Meredith Hagner as Portia and Brandon Michael Hall as Dory’s journalist ex-boyfriend, Julian.

The launch of Search Party, All 4’s first scripted acquisition, forms part of the on-demand channel’s recently announced increased programming investment as it continues on its mission to become a destination-of-choice for discerning British viewers in the UK market.

Charlie Palmer, Managing Editor for All 4, said: “Being young has always been about finding yourself. And for Dory, it seems the best way to do that is to find someone else. Coming at a time of much soul-searching, Search Party feels both timeless and pertinent, and we’re delighted to be welcoming it into the All 4 family.”

Humphrey Black, Vice President, Media Distribution, Turner EMEA said: “Search Party is an enthralling, cutting edge dark comedy mystery that grants a fascinating insight into the lives of self-indulgent twentysomething Brooklynites as they embark on a journey of self-discovery. We are incredibly proud of this show and excited to be partnering with All 4 to bring it to UK audiences. Search Party has found a perfectly positioned home on All 4, and by making the show available as an VOD box set, viewers can watch it how and when they want.”
