Opera TV Certification off to “encouraging” start

December 22, 2016

Opera TV has announced that its Opera TV Certification Programme has gained significant momentum since launching in September 2016. The programme, which accelerates the launch of OTT services to multiple platforms and devices, now has more than 50 content service providers signed up. Participation in the programme enables participants to easily develop and deploy the same HTML5 applications across Opera TV’s certified platforms and devices.

“Historically, device manufacturers and content developers have faced considerable cost and investment requirements when creating OTT offerings that could scale because of the sheer number of platforms and devices within the market,” said Avni Rambhia, Industry Principal, Digital Media, Frost & Sullivan. “There is an acute need to reduce these barriers to entry, improve ROI and decrease time to market in order to make an OTT approach more attractive to service providers.”

“We are encouraged by the overwhelming response we have received in the first few months of our Opera TV Certification Programme,” said Daniel Nordberg, Vice President Content at Opera TV. “By streamlining device certifications and HTML5 application development, we bring great value to our partners by allowing them to bring their products to market faster.”
